Friendships

We know how important it is for children to develop positive relationships with other children and adults. Through these interactions children learn empathy and social skills, gain confidence and feel a strong sense of belonging in their world. They are also exposed to the different views, ideas and knowledge other children have. With these skills and opportunities they are better equipped to extend their learning in all areas.

Over the last few weeks in particular we have been exploring ways in which we can encourage our children to develop friendships with each other. Several of our children have an interest in younger babies. By providing opportunities for relaxed interactions and demonstrating how older children can help our babies, we are seeing new friendships emerging. It is fantastic to see all of the children happy and settled in each other’s company, and we love watching the children learn and grow together.
