Supporting Professional Growth

Helping Educators Be Their Best

Our educators are always learning—so your child gets the best care and teaching, every day.

Growing Skills Through Coaching and Mentoring

At Dubbo Early Learning Centre, we don’t believe in “one-off” reviews. Our performance process happens daily, weekly, and monthly. Educators work with the Educational Leader and leadership team to reflect on their strengths, set goals, and receive coaching on areas for growth. This helps educators move into leadership roles—like trainees becoming Room Leaders—while maintaining high standards.

Educators complete regular self-assessments aligned with the National Quality Standard (NQS). The Educational Leader then provides feedback using our Certification Boards, helping educators track their progress and showcase their skills. Goals are reviewed monthly during Monday meetings, and additional training is built into our schedule.

Practice in Action

A Room Leader who wanted to improve their documentation was supported with training, a visual template, and example scripts for observations. Within weeks, their confidence grew—and they began mentoring others. One of our educators with a passion for inclusion recently led a mini-workshop for their peers on how to adapt group games for children with sensory needs.

We also celebrate success. When educators complete training or achieve a goal, we highlight it on our Educator Hub. From gaining a new qualification to leading a challenging group time, achievements are recognised and shared with the team.

Reflecting as a Whole Team

Meetings include focused topics tied to the NQS, like “Planning for Individual Learning” or “Respectful Relationships with Families.” These topics come from our QIP or community feedback. Our leadership team also models reflective practice in rooms—coaching educators during real interactions to help them see what’s working and what to improve.

How the Community Supports Us

We work closely with health professionals to enhance our professional learning. From learning how to support children with autism, to building risk assessments for children with medical conditions, our team is guided by local experts. We’ve also created excursions based on community partnerships—like learning about native plants, composting, and animal habitats with nearby businesses and parks.

By supporting our educators to grow, we ensure every child receives care from confident, capable, and continually developing professionals.
