Our Philosophy in Action

Our service philosophy guides everything we do, shaping relationships, decision-making, and the learning environment.

Reflecting Who We Are

At Dubbo Early Learning Centre, our Philosophy is not just a statement—it’s a living guide. We update it annually and reflect as a team when new research or changes in practice emerge. After studying how babies learn in group settings, we included Group Theory and shared agency into our Philosophy. These changes reflect our belief in meaningful relationships, group learning, and the importance of strong, supportive educator teams.

Educator Voice and Practice

Our educators actively contribute to shaping our Philosophy. In staff meetings, we reflect on how our values play out in everyday practice. One educator suggested deepening our connection to nature, which led to more outdoor learning experiences and daily walks through the business park. These ideas now align with place-based learning under EYLF Version 2.

Leading by Example

Our leadership team—including the Approved Provider, Nominated Supervisor, 2IC, and Educational Leader—actively work alongside educators in rooms. This helps model our Philosophy and ensure consistency across the centre. This hands-on approach builds confidence and trust while strengthening our culture of shared responsibility.

Family Voice and Cultural Connection

Families are invited to share their feedback on our Philosophy through surveys, conversations, and enrolment discussions. We explain our values around play, inclusion, and risk-taking, so families know what to expect and can decide if our service aligns with their priorities. Our Philosophy celebrates Dubbo’s unique cultural mix, including local Aboriginal knowledge, and the contribution of new migrant families.
