Continuous Improvement

Growing Together Every Day

We never stop improving. Every educator, child, and family helps us shape a stronger service.

Reflecting on What Matters

At Dubbo Early Learning Centre, improvement isn’t something we do once a year—it’s part of our daily culture. Our educators meet regularly with their Room Leaders and the Educational Leader to reflect on their work using the National Quality Standard. We talk about what’s working, what could be better, and how to grow as a team.

We also reflect as a whole team during Monday meetings. Topics may include running more efficient excursions, improving emergency rehearsals, or streamlining our daily routines. For example, after feedback from staff about documentation, we trialled and implemented simplified observation tools and revised our running sheets. This gave educators more time with children while maintaining quality records.

Supportive Leadership

Our leadership team—Nominated Supervisor, 2IC, Educational Leader, and Approved Provider—coach and mentor educators daily. They help plan lessons, troubleshoot concerns, and investigate complaints or incidents with care and transparency. This creates a safe, calm space where educators are supported to succeed and families can be confident in our professionalism.

Learning from the Community

We also learn with and from our community. Recently, educators attended a speech therapy workshop to better understand early communication delays. Our Monday meetings featured guest speakers including psychologists and paediatric experts, helping our team build skills in protective behaviours, trauma-informed care, and supporting children with vision impairment. We don’t just talk about improvement—we build it, every week.

How Families Are Involved

Families are a key part of our improvement process. We listen to your ideas, act on your feedback, and include your perspectives in our reflections. Whether it’s adjusting a routine for your child’s needs or attending a family forum, your voice helps shape how we grow. When we build together, we build better.
