Children thrive when they feel safe, seen, and supported.
At Dubbo Early Learning Centre, our educators build trusting and respectful relationships with every child through meaningful, responsive interactions. Whether it’s through a quiet conversation, a silly story, or a shared routine, we connect with children in ways that support their confidence, security, and willingness to explore. These interactions reflect our service philosophy and are built on the belief that every child deserves to feel included and valued.
Meaningful Moments
From babies to preschoolers, our team is intentional in how we connect with children throughout the day. During nappy changes and toileting, educators talk, sing, and engage with babies using gentle ‘serve and return’ interactions. With older children, we encourage independence—like applying their own sunscreen or serving their own meals—helping them feel capable and confident. Our educators also tune in to each child’s interests and strengths, using them as a starting point to build warm, respectful relationships.
Reflecting to Improve
We regularly reflect on how our values and interactions influence children’s learning and wellbeing. Through team discussions, we’ve made positive changes—like increasing the use of visual aids, simplifying instructions into small steps, and being more responsive to children’s non-verbal cues. We’ve also embraced fun, expressive reading styles and more open-ended questioning. These thoughtful changes help us connect with all children and support inclusive learning.
Working With Families
Strong partnerships with families help us understand each child more deeply. We regularly ask families about their child’s likes, dislikes, strengths, and needs, using this information to tailor our interactions and support. We also work closely with a wide network of professionals, including physiotherapists, speech therapists, NSW Department of Education specialist teachers, Vision Australia, and Guide Dogs Australia. These collaborations ensure we’re meeting each child’s unique needs with care, expertise, and consistency—at the centre and beyond.
