What a fantastic start to the year we are having! Welcome to our new families. It is a pleasure to have you join us. It has been great to get so much family input, with lots of you sharing with us how you spend your weekends. This has enabled us to build our daily curriculum around the children’s interests, with lots of stories and discussions about pets, grandparents and swimming. This is not just lots of fun! When children’s play and learning involves their everyday lives, it helps build their sense of identity and belonging. It also means they are interested and engaged in what we are doing. Learning comes easily to happy and engaged children! No boring activities at Dubbo ELC!
Another exciting venture for us is our increased interaction with the Preschool Room. We have been getting some fantastic preschool helpers of an afternoon. For example, the preschool children have been helping us with our ongoing ‘pet rock’ project. Keep an eye out for updates in the room as we move through the stages of creating our pet rocks.
All our babies love the visits from the “big kids” and we are seeing some lovely friendships forming between the two rooms – with lots of opportunities for the children to demonstrate and develop those important social skills.
Bye for now, Mel, Lesley, Jasmine and the Nursery One and Two children.
