At Dubbo Early Learning Centre, we have a weekly excursion program in all our rooms.
Weekly Excursions are a critical foundation of our program to enhance children’s learning though establishing and developing relationships with our local community. Our location in the Blueridge Business Park allows many opportunities for visits to the other businesses nearby.
Our Educators are always actively seeking input from our families to understand the children’s interests and the things they like to do when they are at home and on the weekend and in Dubbo these interests are wide and varied. Likewise, we encourage our Educators to bring their interests, passion and previous work history to the program to further enhance the depth and engagement of the learning.
The learning which is extended upon from the excursions can be surprisingly diverse. For example, a recent visit to our local café resulted in some very detailed geography work extending from where coffee beans come from. Numeracy skills were included from the very exciting opportunity to make a cash register and set up a play café and shop. Our Educators are always excited to talk to you about how this program provides such wide and diverse inspiration for learning.
The polices and check points we have in place ensure the safety and care of all of children, especially when on excursions. For example, a full risk assessment for each excursion is developed by the Educators and signed off by the Director.
