Respecting Family Values

We listen to, honour, and learn from every family’s culture, beliefs, and expertise.

Families Are Our Partners
At Dubbo Early Learning Centre, we recognise that families hold rich knowledge about their children’s needs, strengths, and ways of being. We seek out your views and use them to shape your child’s learning journey. Whether it’s a cultural tradition, a family routine, or a passion for fishing, motorbikes, or nature—we build it into our program.

Encouraging Confidence and Contribution
We know that some families may feel unsure about how to participate, especially when educators are seen as the experts. That’s why we host information nights, portfolio evenings, and relaxed conversations that invite parents to share what matters to them. Your voice might influence a group project, a new routine, or even the creation of resources like our frog bog, developed in partnership with families.

Challenging Assumptions With Reflection
Our team reflects carefully on how personal values and assumptions might affect how we engage with families. We avoid limiting participation based on things like literacy level, communication style, or social confidence. We actively listen and respond, even when suggestions challenge us—it’s all part of growing together and building trust.

Embedding Culture Into Everyday Learning
Your family’s values and culture are woven into what we do. Whether that means celebrating important cultural events, using children’s home languages, or incorporating Indigenous perspectives shared by families, we make sure your child’s world is represented. Working in partnership helps us meet the goals of the Early Years Learning Framework and ensures every child’s learning is rich, respectful, and deeply meaningful.
