At Dubbo Early Learning Centre, we believe strong relationships with families begin at enrolment. From the first conversation, we work to understand your child’s interests, strengths, and needs—and how your family would like to be involved. During orientation, families visit the rooms, meet educators, learn about daily routines, and receive clear information about how the centre runs. We also introduce key staff and explain who to speak with for different concerns or suggestions, so families feel welcome, confident, and included.
Contributing to Decisions That Matter
Families are encouraged to be active participants in shaping their child’s experience and the service as a whole. We involve families in decisions about routines, transitions, learning goals, and support strategies. For children with medical or behavioural needs, we co-create risk minimisation, communication, and behaviour support plans. We’ve also sought family input during outdoor renovations and used feedback to shape how play spaces were designed. This partnership ensures every child’s experience is informed by the people who know them best—you.
Removing Barriers to Participation
We understand that every family is different, and we’re flexible in how we invite participation. Educators reflect regularly on how to include all voices, using a range of communication tools—like informal chats, written notes, phone calls, and online messages—to connect with families. We hold weekend events to suit working parents and adapt our approach to meet cultural, language, and accessibility needs. Families’ strengths and community ties are also celebrated and used to enrich the service, whether it’s through sharing skills, leading an activity, or offering cultural knowledge.
Connecting Families and Community
We actively support families to connect with one another and with the wider community. Events like park playdates and centre gatherings give parents a chance to meet, share experiences, and build support networks. Our educators are familiar with local services—such as parenting support, allied health professionals, and financial assistance programs—and are happy to help families access the help they need. Whether you’re seeking advice, a connection, or simply someone to listen, we’re here to help your family feel supported, respected, and included.
