We create a safe, calm, and inclusive environment for every child, every day.
At Dubbo Early Learning Centre, your child’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We know that when children feel safe, comfortable, and emotionally supported, they are better able to learn, grow, and connect with others. That’s why our educators respond thoughtfully to each child’s changing physical, emotional, and even spiritual needs—with care that is personal, meaningful, and consistent.
We Partner with Families and Professionals
We build strong relationships with families and collaborate with healthcare professionals when needed to ensure we’re meeting every child’s changing needs. Whether it’s helping a child who feels anxious after a big life change, supporting routines for children with additional medical needs, or adjusting our care in response to feedback from families—we always keep the lines of communication open. Families are our partners, and their insights help us create nurturing and responsive environments.
We Support Individual and Group Needs
Every child is different, and we respect their individual rhythms. Some children need a quiet place to relax; others find comfort in gentle conversation or movement. We offer a range of calming spaces with soft lighting, music, and sensory options. Our rest and sleep areas are set up to accommodate different preferences, and we adjust nap times or routines based on what works best for each child. Group relaxation sessions like yoga, mindfulness, or guided breathing help create a sense of calm and shared restfulness across the day.
We Respond in the Moment
Our educators use their knowledge and close relationships with children to recognise signs of tiredness, overstimulation, or emotional stress. Whether it’s offering a cuddle, setting up a quiet solo activity, or guiding children through a calming routine, we are always watching and responding with intention. Children know they are safe and supported here.
We Create Inclusive and Fair Environments
We consider every child’s background, family situation, and abilities when planning for wellbeing. No child is left out due to their cultural practices, language, family routine, or physical needs. If a child is unable to participate in certain routines, we adapt those routines. We use inclusive language, visual supports, and cultural materials to ensure all children see themselves reflected in our spaces and feel that they belong.
We Reflect on Equity and Social Justice
Our educators regularly come together to reflect on whether our practices are fair, inclusive, and respectful of all children’s rights. We ask ourselves: Are we truly supporting every child’s comfort and wellbeing? Are there biases or habits we need to change? These reflections have led us to introduce sensory corners, adapt rest expectations, and improve communication with families whose home language is not English. We also welcome input from families in these discussions, ensuring that our reflection includes many voices.
We Share the Day with You
You’ll see how we support your child’s wellbeing in our daily updates, displays, and conversations at pick-up. We might share a photo of your child reading quietly in a cosy space, joining a yoga session, or helping a friend with kindness. These moments show the importance we place on emotional wellbeing, comfort, and connection.
We Are Always Learning
Our team regularly takes part in professional development to better understand children’s physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. From first aid to trauma-informed practice to cultural safety, we keep learning so we can offer the very best care. We also seek support from allied health professionals when needed, ensuring we respond with expertise as well as empathy.
