We don’t just supervise—our teaching is thoughtful, responsive, and intentional.
At Dubbo Early Learning Centre, every interaction is an opportunity to support your child’s thinking, language, and confidence. We plan ahead, ask meaningful questions, offer thoughtful feedback, and provide the right tools so children can wonder, problem-solve, and grow.
We use open-ended questions to spark curiosity
You’ll often hear our educators asking:
- “What do you think might happen next?”
- “Why do you think that floated?”
- “How could we make this stronger?” These questions aren’t about right or wrong—they’re about thinking deeply, exploring ideas, and learning to communicate with purpose.
We provide the right tools to extend learning
We carefully set up environments and resources to match children’s interests. For example:
- In the sandpit, we might add pipes, funnels, and measuring cups for water play.
- In block play, we offer planks and wheels to support STEM construction ideas.
- In the home corner, you might see real menus, cooking tools, or traditional cultural items from families.
We’re always asking: “What will help the children take this idea further?”
We make storytime come alive
Our literacy moments are full of movement, acting, and questions. We use:
- Puppets, costumes, and story stones
- Child-led retelling of favourite books
- Questions like “How do you think the character feels?” to build empathy and comprehension
We teach through everyday moments
During meals and routines, we extend learning through conversations:
- “How many cups do we need today?”
- “Where do you think this apple came from?”
- “Can you help your friend pour the water?”
These daily moments build maths, language, and social skills in natural, engaging ways.
We intentionally embed children’s cultures, families, and lived experiences in learning. For example:
- Families share traditional recipes, music, or languages that we build into cooking, group time, or storytelling.
- A parent might bring in firefighter gear or talk about their work in transport or healthcare.
- We regularly ask families for ideas to ensure learning feels relevant and connected.
We reflect on what works for each child
We know every child learns differently. After each group experience, we reflect as a team:
- Did some children need more props or movement?
- Who needed small-group support?
- What can we adjust tomorrow?
This helps us tailor future experiences to support all learning styles.
We teach with heart, purpose, and connection
Intentional teaching is about knowing your child, building trust, and using every moment—from a nappy change to a conversation about clouds—as a way to inspire learning.
